Old Comunal Palace and the clock Tower
Going from Piazza G. Via Matteotti Frangipani (from the name of the last family who had the lordship of Tolfa) we find 12 of the old Town Hall, built just outside the ancient walls of the medieval village. Also called by the nickname “Palazzaccio” is certainly the first building constructed in Tolfa after the discovery of alum and subsequent urban growth of the city.
It was the first municipal seat of Tolfa and presents, in an elegant portico of good quality (which needs urgent restoration). His typology building and its beautiful courtyard do not differ from the models of its time.
Behind the Palace and the ancient walls lies adjacent to the Clock Tower erected probably in 1602 (as appears from the marble) in place of another clock located on the church tower of St. Egidio but less visible and therefore of little value.
