Necropolis Grottini of Rota
Some exhibition spaces of the Museum of Tolfa host the necropolis of Grottini of Rota.
The necropolis is currently located at km 39 of the road Tolfa-Bracciano, in the middle valley of the river Mignone, in the town of Canale Monterano. The original appearance of the tuff spur where the graves were dug, was interested in the modern age from a quarry that has destroyed much of the necropolis.
Currently maintain about fifteen graves. However, it is easy to imagine that the number should be much higher, at least twice, before the opening of the quarry. The necropolis was relevant to the neighboring village of Piana di Stigliano. In architectural terms it is worth noting some accuracy in the works that is reflected in both the exterior and interior monuments.
In the museum are the remains of six kits (graves I, II, III, V, VI, VII) and some items sporadic.
