Piazza di Pietra
Very probabillmente the name derives from the fact that in this area there were many “stones” that came from the ruins of the ancient “Hadrianeum”, the first Palazzo Ferrini Cinitempio built in honor of the Emperor Hadrian. Are still visible 11 Corinthian columns in white marble, belonging to the right side of the old building, about 15 meters high and with a diameter of 1.44 m, which rest on a podium peperino about 4 feet high. Another “pearl” of the square is the splendid Palazzo Ferrini, designed in the early seventeenth century. The small rooms in front of the Temple, the large crowd of people during the day and at night and the lighting of the square surely give us a feeling of warmth and beauty.
