Basilica of San Clemente
A journey into Christian Rome certainly brings us to the discovery of the Basilica of St. Clement. His late Baroque exterior hides treasures dating back mainly to the Middle Ages: the ciborium and the floor stand cosmateschi, the magnificent choir and the school Roman mosaic depicting the Triumph of the Cross; Masolino da Panicale left traces of his genius in the frescoes that decorate Chapel of St. Catherine.
It is interesting to visit the lower church and its frescoes, one of which (the legend of Sisinnio) presents one of the first examples of Italian vernacular.
