Archaeological site of Ferento
The remains of a foundation of French-speaking Augustan-Tiberian span>
L ‘ archaeological Ferento is about 8 km from Viterbo strong> and is in the north-east of the capital.
Excavations carried out in the course of the twentieth century have unearthed the remains of a monumental Roman foundation: Augustan-Tiberian age were built the baths; also it dates back to this period the theater was renovated in the second century AD
The complex is made up of the best preserved ruins of the Roman theater , it is still used for theatrical performances in summer: the sculptures first in the theater are kept in the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Viterbo, while the partially reconstructed auditorium, for the public.
