Palace of Justice

The Palace of Justice or Palazzaccio of Rome is one of the most beautiful buildings of Rome Capital, home of the Supreme Court of Cassation. Structured externally all in travertine, is inspired by baroque motifs of the ’500.

On top of the rear elevation is the coat of arms of Savoy Paolo Bartolini, while the facade, overlooking the River Tiber, is preceded by colossal statues of jurists and crowned by a bronze chariot Ettore Ximene. The imposing central portal is surmounted by the group Justice, located between the Force and the Law, works of Henry Quattrini, while inside the building, a court of honor with arcades is preceded by stairs with other statues of jurists. The focal point is the Law, by the Quattrini. In the Hall of Honor instead are wonderful frescoes depicting the history of law, works of Cesare Maccari.
